Pokemon Black 2 Tips: Building Your Pokemon Team

In my experience as a Pokemon Trainer or should I say Pokemon gamer haha, I always choose the Water-type as a starter. Oshawott is the one that I chose in the Black 2 version. Somehow, Water Pokemons are really flexible when it comes to movepool. You can teach Ice Beam and other Ice moves to Oshawott and its succeeding evolutions, Dewott and Samurott. Ice moves are super effective against Ground, Dragon, Flying and Grass Pokemon.

For grass-type Pokemon, I recommend Petilil ‘coz it’s so kawaii desu and has good Sp. Atk and HP when it evolves into Lilligant. You have to use Sun Stone for it to evolve. Unfortunately, you can’t catch a Petilil in Black 2 ‘coz it’s exclusive in White 2. Find a friend so you can trade and get a Petilil haha. By the way, the ability of this Pokemon must be Own Tempo ‘coz it’s final move Petal Dance has a confusion after-effect.

Next is the Fire, my favorite Pokemon type. Catch a Darumaka in Route 4 or Desert Resort. It has high stats in Sp. Atk & HP and the ability of Sheer Force when it evolves to Darmanitan. My favorite moves of Darmanitan are Overheat, Superpower, Flare Blitz and Hammer Arm.

Finally, you need other Pokemon types to fill your team. There are three slots remaining so you could choose among Electric, Rock, Ground, Steel Fight, Flying, Psychic, Ghost, Ice, Dragon, etc. There are lot’s of Pokemon to catch in the Unova region. Choose whatever you like but I recommend Mareep, Riolu, Vullaby, Gothita, Drilbur, Axew, Munna, Vanillite, Deino, Litwick and Pidove (you need Flying-type to go to different places using HM02 Fly).
